Pakistan, capital Islamabad, is a South Asian country officially known as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Pakistan became independent from the rule of British Empire on 14th August 1947. The total area of 803,940 sq km and population of 164,741,924 (2007) makes the Islamic country of Pakistan the sixth most populous country of the world. Lying on the 30 (N) latitude and 70 (E) longitude, Pakistan shares its international border with India in East and with Afghanistan and Iran in the west. Pakistan has 1050 Km long coastline that defines its southern border with Arabian Sea.
